"All-on-6" dental implants are another advanced technique for replacing a full set of teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. Similar to All-on-4 implants, this method provides a stable and long-lasting solution using six dental implants per arch instead of four. Here’s a detailed explanation of All-on-6 dental implants:
Components of All-on-6 Dental Implants:
- Implants:
- Six titanium implants are surgically placed in each jawbone. These implants serve as anchors for the dental prosthesis that will replace the missing teeth.
- Dental Prosthesis:
- A customized dental prosthesis, often a bridge or denture, is securely attached to the six implants. This prosthesis is designed to look and function like natural teeth.
How All-on-6 Dental Implants Work:
- Placement Strategy: The six implants are strategically positioned in areas of the jawbone with optimal bone density and volume. This ensures strong support and stability for the dental prosthesis. The advantage of six over four implants is it provides better load distribution and allows for better arch distribution of implants allowing us to replace all your teeth- the full set till second molars which does not happen with all on four where you get a shortened arch or a restricted arch. Also, better chewing and function due to all teeth being present is another advantage. And higher survival rate also has been found with All on 6 implant concept.
- Enhanced Stability: With six implants instead of four, All-on-6 implants offer increased stability and load-bearing capacity. This can be particularly beneficial for patients with greater chewing forces or bone density concerns.
- Immediate Function: Similar to All-on-4 implants, immediate temporary teeth or a provisional prosthesis can often be placed on the same day as the implant surgery. This allows patients to leave the dental office with functional teeth while the implants heal and integrate with the jawbone.
Benefits of All-on-6 Dental Implants:
- Strong Support: Six implants distribute the chewing forces more evenly across the jawbone, reducing the risk of implant failure and enhancing long-term stability.
- Improved Aesthetics and Function: All-on-6 implants provide a natural-looking smile and restore optimal chewing and speaking abilities, boosting confidence and quality of life.
- Long-Term Durability: With proper care and maintenance, All-on-6 implants can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective solution over time.
- Bone Preservation: Dental implants stimulate the jawbone, helping to prevent bone loss and maintaining facial structure.
Considerations:
- Candidate Evaluation: Suitable candidates for All-on-6 implants typically have adequate jawbone volume and good oral health. Your dentist will assess your specific needs and discuss treatment options.
- Maintenance: Regular oral hygiene practices and routine dental check-ups are essential to ensure the health and longevity of All-on-6 implants and the supporting prosthesis.
Procedure at NOVORIS for All on 6 Implants:
· Consultation- In the first visit we usually check your oral cavity clinically to make sure you are a correct candidate for the procedure. Your preop photos and videos of function and smile are taken along with certain photos of your oral cavity for planning. Then your basic x-ray evaluation is done using an OPG x-ray. Your medical reports are checked and medical history is taken so we advise you to bring your medical reports and file of prescriptions with you. Based on all of this we decide whether the procedure can be done or not. Then we advise a CBCT x-ray which is also called a 3-D x-ray to plan your case along with the photos and videos in a planning software.
· Treatment plan explanation- In the next visit we explain the nuances of the treatment to you. Everything right from step-1 till the last step will be explained in detail with different options and material choices (we use only the best materials available in the market). Then the treatment estimate will be provided to you. Everything will be written and a copy is given to you for your reference in your file. Once you agree we start with the process.
· All on 6 surgery- In the next visit the surgery will be done by Dr Vivek Patel followed by immediate function temporary teeth (if planned as per the specific case). Then routine regular follow ups will be taken during the initial healing period for upto one month after which next appointment for the final prosthesis will be given for after 2-3 months.
· Final prosthesis- In the last segment the old temporary will be removed and the final prosthesis as planned will be given. This process takes around 2-3 weeks (can increase or decrease based on the case). After this a final OPG x-ray and photos for our records are taken and we keep follow up visits for next one month for any adjustments required. After this the process is over and we advise our patients to come for routine check ups once in every 6 months. All post op instructions and hygiene measure will be written and provided to you to follow.
